A shot of Indus

Polka dots, that is.

I know, I know, I am a little late updating this, technically it’s Sunday morning, but Saturday night is still young!

Date night has arrived, reservations have been made, and my date is all lined up—and yes, I am referring to my husband! Granted, the restaurant wasn’t the type of place I really needed to dress up to go to, very few places in Copenhagen seem to be, but it’s important to look and feel sexy on a date, isn’t it? So the question is, what should I wear?

I stumbled across this blouse online—yes, I window shop and browse online, both of which make my bank account nervous—and the moment my eyes danced over that flirty pattern, I knew I just had to have it. This is my first piece with polka dots, though I have a feeling it won’t be my last: I’m currently lusting over a polka dot wrap dress as well.

I’m a big fan of the TV show “Mad Men”. One of my favorite characters is Joan Holloway, played by the absolutely stunning Christina Hendricks, and this top was veritably made for her! It hugs all the curves, puts your feminine charms on display without going “too far”, flattering elbow-length sheer sleeves, and if the folded neckline isn’t enough to draw the eye to your bust, as a bonus it has an adorable frontal tie with excess hanging fabric.

Don’t ask me why, but it is a well-known fact that a black and white palette of polka dots always goes well with red—the combination is incredibly flattering. Naturally, I wanted to wear red accessories with this top. Only one problem: I don’t really have much red, and nothing in the style I wanted for this top: namely, classic!

Now, nothing says classic like pearls, so started a “do it yourself” mini-crafting project and came up with this very simple, red, faux-pearl set. A few hours, beads, ample wire, and a little frustration —have you ever tried to make the loop at the end of an earring?—and voila! My very first jewelry creation was born.

By the by, our evening was lovely, our meal was tasty, and my husband couldn’t seem to keep his eyes—or anything else, tee hee!—off me. Success!

Have a great weekend!
