FAQ

Why don’t you have a FAQ page?
I do now!  Seriously, though, I just didn’t want to have a “FAQ” page if there weren’t frequently asked questions, it seemed a little more than silly, not to mention fake.  I waited until I’d gotten each question multiple times before adding them to the list.

How old are you? Where are you from?
I’m 30.  I was born and raised in Vermont, spent my teen years in Oregon, bounced around a bit in my 20s, and eventually landed in Copenhagen, Denmark.

How tall are you?  What size do you wear?
I’m 175cm – or – 5’9”, give or take an eighth of an inch or so.  In the last 10 years I have worn everything from a size 10US (12UK, 40 EU) up to a size 22US (24UK, 52EU); as of December 2012, I’m wearing an 18US(20UK, 48EU) in most things, but I try on things that don’t have those numbers on the tag regularly, just in case.

Where do you shop?
I’m a big fan of trying things on before I make a purchase, so the majority of my shopping happens in the greater Copenhagen area; various thrift stores, H&M, Zizzi, Venus & Mars XL, Monsoon, and Change.  I also visit Magasin and Illum, which are up-scale department stores, and Fisketorvet, which is a shopping mall.

For online shopping I look at LaDiva.dk, Asos, Curvety, Rachel Pally, Kiyonna, Igigi, Torrid, Lane Bryant, and Forever21.

Where did you get (a specific item) ?
I list what brand each item is at the bottom of the picture.  If I’ve missed one, feel free to let me know and I’ll correct it a.s.a.p.

What kind of camera do you use?
From the blog’s start and up to July 15th I was using a Nikon D40, sadly Friday the 13th murdered my camera.  From July 18th and onward I starting using the Nikon D5100.

Who takes your pictures?
Usually I take my own pictures with a tripod and a remote, occasionally my husband takes them for me so I can be hands-free.

What hair products do you use?
I know this isn’t going to be a popular answer, but the truth is, I use a budget brand shampoo and conditioner.  I do not put products in my hair on a daily basis, I just let it do its own thing; rarely I use Schwarzkopf’s “got2b 2 sexy” mousse for a little more volume and I give it a protein treatment once in a blue moon.

What skincare and makeup do you use?
May 2012 I switched from using the Clinique skin care line to using the basic Matas skin care—perfume free—and I’m pleasantly surprised.  For makeup I wear MAC studio fix foundation and mineral powder, but for everything else—mascara, blush, eyeshadow, eyeliner, etc—I try out different products regularly (read:  whatever is on sale).

Is Ais’s Apron just a title or do you have an apron?
Haha, this one made me laugh out loud to read and I couldn’t resist posting it.  Yes, I actually have an apron I wear, I am a messy cook and I don’t like getting it all over my clothes.

Why do you moderate comments?
This answer is twofold.

Firstly, spam.  There is a spam filter, which catches most of it, but not everything.  I don’t like getting spam in my E-mail, and I would appreciate it even less if I found 20 comments all relating to Viagra on my latest blog post.

Example:  Recently I got a comment praising my post from someone named “Todd” who, when his name was clicked, brought me to a search for Russian Brides and various other nastiness.  I do not want that sort of thing linked on my page.

Secondly, the internet provides anonymity for those who desire it, as such people tend to get bolder and more forward; some, unfortunately, also get rude and nasty as the anonymity means there is little to no consequence for their actions.  This doesn’t mean that criticism is unwelcome; feedback is encouraged, though I want constructive comments, not just some name-calling and nasty remarks.

Why do you have non-fashion blogs on your blogroll?
Because what I find interesting to read I want to share with others, they might find it interesting or enjoyable as well.

I’m a blogger, too, and I’d like to be on your blogroll!
I won’t guarantee a link, but if you send me a mail with your address I’d be happy to check it out.

Do you get free products/items?
I’ve received several free sample-size products; if I decide to post about them I make it clear that it was a gift or a sample in the post itself.  I’m honest in my reviews of items and products, and I’ll never “sell” my opinions for goodies.

I work for a brand and we’d like to send you something to review.
As long as you agree to allow me to give an honest review—good or bad—and not a canned promotion piece about the item(s), feel free to send me an E-mail:  CoutureForCurvesBlog@gmail.com with a link to your website/item(s) and I’ll get back to you.

If you have any more questions, feel free to send them my way.
